                                                                    The Hostage
                                                     ( #1 Great Chicago Fire Trilogy )

Summary

Deborah a wealthy heiress has to obey her father who desperately wants respect. She is set to marry Viscount Phillip Ascot a member of the he peer but, something happens that changes her mind. She sets out for Chicago to plead her case to her father. Little does she know that Chicago is in flames literally.

Plot

The second part is that Deborah is kidnaped by Tom when ne can't secure a ransom to repay the people who were wronged by her father. He takes her to the island where he lives for part of a he year. Tom can't stand Deborah at first and is at times distant and cruel to her. When he sees she is willing to help out, learn and is befriending people on the island he starts to warm up to her. When a snow storm hits and they are stuck there they start  to get to know each other and fall in love.

My Thoughts

This book was just amazing, it was intelligent, deep and insightful, the plot was building it's momentum slowly but surely, bringing the reader closer to the characters stories unfold before us as they get to know themselves and each other her. A beautiful story with wounderful imagery and characters. I was truly touched by Tom and his concern and thoughtfulness when it comes to Deborah . The romance was believeable, poignant, and very touching.
