Summary
Charlotte's parents treated her abominably, and she feels clod, broken, and empty inside. She has to do what her dad wants or her mom and sister will suffer is she doesn't. Known for her beauty and icy persona she is envied by many but, even seeing her world clearly she is still capable of great depth of the motion, seen with Emily, then Miranda, and finally Roman. She uses words and rules to build a wall around herself. When she meets Roman everything changes.
Plot
From the moment Roman Merrick meets Charlotte Chatsworth he knows that he will do anything to have her. He makes a deal with her dad and if he loses she will have to spend one night with him. He cheats and so it begins. I loved the dangerous and slightly forbidden attraction between Roman and Charlotte. The writing was complex and lush, detailed and descriptive.
My thoughts
I loved Charlotte in the beginning of the book she was thrust into a horibble situation but, she didn't dispare she had her moment when she was by herself then she stood up and did what she had to do. What I admired about her was that she walked into the situation with no illusions and took victory away from everyone who had been trying to manipulate her.
Roman was totally unique, bold, sexy, confident he was always plotting and he never did anything without thinking 2 steps ahead. He had a mix of St. Vincent and Derek Carven in him.
Anne Mallory is a master at telling stories they are fool of sexual tension, humor, great dialogue, characters, and emotions that breath of the pages.
The emotions between Roman and Charlotte were beautiful there was great banter, humor, and dialogue not only between them but, also between all the side characters.
